ALMA, WI - Buffalo County Public Health will hold a by-appointment-only clinic on Friday, November 6, to distribute H1N1 flu vaccine.
The clinic will be held from 8 am to 4:30 pm in Public Health's office on the third floor of the Buffalo County Courthouse, 407 South Second Street, Alma. Only people making appointments will be seen that day; call 608-685-4412 to make an appointment.
Due to limited amounts and types of available H1N1 vaccine plus revised State Health Department recommendations for serving those at the highest risk of developing complications from the H1N1 flu, Buffalo County will only be vaccinating the following groups:
• Pregnant women,
• People living with or providing care for children under 6 months old,
• Children 6 months to 4 years,
• Healthcare or EMS workers who have direct contact with patients or infectious materials, and
• Children 5 years through 18 years who have chronic health conditions.
People who are allergic to eggs or the seasonal flu vaccine should not receive the H1N1 vaccine.
Buffalo County Public Health has postponed school-based clinics at this time. To learn about clinics as they are scheduled, visit the Buffalo County website (www.buffalocounty.com/Public%20Health.htm) or call Great Rivers Resource (2-1-1 or 1-877-947-2211) or Buffalo County Public Health (608-685-4412).
