ARCADIA, Wis. - Daniel "Big Dan" Kamla, 55, of Arcadia died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, as the result of a farming accident.

He was born April 13, 1954, in Arcadia to Ernest and Rose (Radomski) Kamla.

On May 22, 1982, Dan married Debra Skroch at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence, Wis., and together they farmed in rural Arcadia. In Feb. 1999, their farming operation was featured in the Hay & Forage Grower magazine, and in 2001, Dan and Debbie received the Farmer of the Year Award from the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce.

He was proud of his lifelong farming career and especially enjoyed driving big farm machinery. Dan was a member of Holy Family Parish and also served on the Board of the Arcadia Co-op Assoc. He enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas and Black River Falls, and he loved his new log home and his dog, Lacy.

Dan is survived by his wife, Debbie of Arcadia; mother, Rose Kamla of Arcadia; three sisters, Theresa Kamla and Karen Gould, both of Rochester, and Diana (Bernard) Bork of Waumandee, Wis.; a brother, David (Cheryl) Kamla of Trempealeau, Wis.; 14 nephews and nieces, Derek and Danielle Bork, Matthew and Chelsey Kamla, Rachael and Adam Gould, Travis, Rachel and Amanda Skroch, Brian and Steve Bautch, and Dale, Richard and Gerald Skroch; mother-in-law, Susan Skroch; sister-in-law, Bev Bautch; brother-in-law, Ron Skroch; and two special hired men, Adam Ziegeweid and Tony Killian.

Preceding Dan in death were his father, Ernest; his grandparents; two aunts, Theresa Klimek and Frances Quinn; an uncle, Frank Radomski; father-in-law, Roy Skroch; sister-in-law, Rose Ann Skroch, brother-in-law, Allen Skroch; and niece, Jolene Skroch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Family Parish, Arcadia, with Father Michael Klos officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Arcadia.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Friends may also call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
