Hubbard County Sheriff Gary Mills said 50-year-old Carol Robin Spry lost control of the four-wheeler Saturday as she drove down a hill that was washed out.
Both Spry and her passenger were thrown from the ATV.
Spry was taken to a Fargo, N.D., hospital, where she died Sunday. Her passenger was treated and released from a Park Rapids Hospital.
The sheriff said alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident, which happened 3 miles south of Lake George. The case remains under investigation.
