Young Nerstrand boy shot and killed

FARIBAULT, Minn. (AP) — A 3-year-old boy from Nerstrand died after being shot in the head by his sister as she played with a gun.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office said the 6-year-old girl was playing with a handgun the children had found in an unlocked nightstand at their home in the small town east of Faribault.
The boy was flown to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he was pronounced dead about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The names of the victim and the young girl weren't immediately released.
