David Cleo Bernard

David Cleo Bernard, 74, of Chatfield, Minn., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his brother’s home in Pensacola, Fla., surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 16, 1934, on the family farm to Cleo and Mattie (Burgan) Bernard in rural Olmsted County. David married Joyce Schulz of Winona on Aug. 18, 1956. She preceded him in death Feb. 23, 1986.

David and Joyce were longtime residents of Key Largo, Fla., where they lived in a home that he built himself. David worked in the construction business for many years and later owned and operated his own trucking business in Key Largo until his retirement in 1987.

He returned to the Chatfield area and was an active member of the Olmsted County Historical Society’s Mechanical History Roundtable. He enjoyed driving his antique tractors at their events.

David was always an adventurer; he was a pilot, a gold prospector, a world traveler and historian. He traveled many places in his lifetime and always enjoyed the view from his cabin on Boy Lake, Minn.

David will be missed by his loving family and friends throughout the world. Besides his wife; he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cleone; sister-in-law, Elaine; nephew, Curtis; and niece, Lisa.

He is survived by his brother, Garry (Beverly) Bernard; nieces, Debra (Charles) Sweetland, Corine (Steve) Overmire, Rebecca Bernard, Linda (Allen) Simanovski, Carla (Roy) Sahr and nephews, Steven and Ricky Ingalls and Thor Miles.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Rev. Greg Hovland will officiate.

Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide full military honors.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.

Elizabeth M. Waletzko

WHITEHALL, Wis. — Elizabeth M. Waletzko, 80, of Whitehall died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St John’s Catholic Church, Whitehall. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, North Creek, rural Arcadia.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where a Christian prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Visitation is one hour prior to church services Thursday.

Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall, is assisting the family.

Ione G. Forstrom

LANESBORO, Minn. — Ione G. Forstrom, 91, of Lanesboro died Aug. 1, 2008, in Minnetonka, Minn.

Services will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lanesboro. Burial in Lanesboro Cemetery.

Visitation is 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Donald S. Grulkowski

Donald S. Grulkowski, 71, of Bluff Siding, Wis., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia, Wis.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.
