The chase began at about 8:30 a.m. just before the morning media briefing, when squad cars were seen squealing their tires as they left the Law Enforcement Center parking lot at 201 W. Third St. According to the police department’s receptionist, no one was left in the office to give the daily media briefing. Even Police Chief Frank Pomeroy left the station to give chase.
The suspect was eventually apprehended around 9:30 a.m. behind the Sugar Loaf Apartments on East Sarnia Street.
Police declined to comment about the case or alleged assault on Tuesday but are expected to divulge further details this morning.
