Beyerstedt paced the field at Lewiston Country Club with a 2-over-par 74, joining first-round leader Erickson at 149 after the second of five rounds. Brian Russell, Aaron Theis and Brett Egland all shot 75.
Six players shot in the 70s Tuesday, and there have been 12 rounds in the 70s after two days of play. Last year there was only one round in the 70s after two rounds and nine total for the tournament. Moreover, nine rounds have already bettered last year’s low round of 77.
William Leaf, alone in third place at 151 (74-77), and Theis, tied for fourth at 156 (81-75), will join Beyerstedt and Erickson in the final group for today’s third round at Westfield Golf Club.
The five-day tournament features 19 players. After today’s round at Westfield, the tournament will go Thursday to Cedar Valley Golf Course before the final round Friday at The Bridges Golf Club.
