Marcella A. Hoover

Aug. 16, 1910 — Aug. 3, 2008

Marcella A. Hoover, 97, of Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona. She was born in Winona on Aug. 16, 1910, the daughter of Ernst J. and Anna (Theis) Schultz.

Marcella was united in marriage to Jay E. Hoover on Feb. 12, 1942, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Winona. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1969. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona.

Marcella was employed at Leicht Press for many years, retiring in 1970.

She is survived by her brother, Marvin Schultz of Winona; and sisters, Rita Dingfelder of Lewiston, Minn., Jeraldine Schneider of Goodview and Jeanne Whetstone of Winona. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Rachael Kuhlmann and Fay Blank.

Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 6, from noon to 1 p.m. at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare. A Mass of Christian burial to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare-Chapel at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Richard Colletti of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.

Casketbearers will be Michael Schultz, Jeffrey and Steven Schneider, William J. Whetstone, Patrick Dienger and David Steadman.

A memorial is being arranged.

MILLVILLE, Minn. — Cecil Norbert Decker, 76, of Millville died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, West Albany, rural Millville. Burial in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.

Donald S. Grulkowski, 71, of Bluff Siding, Wis., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.

Arrangements are pending with Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.

WHITEHALL, Wis. — Thor O. Thorson, 82, of Whitehall died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in Pigeon Falls.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
