State Fair officials warn of bogus tickets

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — After a spate of useless tickets were presented, Wisconsin State Fair officials are warning people to only buy tickets from authorized sources.

Fair spokeswoman Patrice Harris says unauthorized sellers outside the fair gates have been selling tickets that have already been scanned and used for admission.

Once fair tickets are scanned, they can’t be used again. However, there’s no way for a consumer to know if their ticket has been scanned until they try to use it.

The fair says that through Saturday night, more than 3,300 fairgoers had presented void tickets purchased from unauthorized sellers.
