A country for oil executives

I have to respond to Jim Galewski’s column on Aug. 1.

He is blaming Congress, which is controlled by the Democrats for the mess we’re in and says President Bush is not solely to blame for this.

The Democrats in Congress have been unable to do anything because Bush is completely unwilling to work with any of them and vetoes everything he doesn’t like.

Bush has acted like a spoiled child for the past eight years and insists he’s right about everything. A giant mess like this did not just start in two short years — it has been building for the past eight years.

One reason the middle class is struggling right now is the cost of gas, which has been rising quickly since the oil man took office and since the war. The oil companies and Bush’s friends are raking in huge profits according to every report I’ve ever seen, plus they have enormous tax breaks.

Galewski says we need to make sacrifices and curb out spending. We are middle class people who work hard and we deserve to live comfortably, but that’s dwindling on us.

I want to know what sacrifices the oil executives are making. Or do they continue to live the same as they always have, or, in fact, even better than before? Bush has never worked hard in his life. It’s time to make the oil executives sacrifice something. Their large tax cuts have done nothing to stimulate the economy — only make it worse.

I’m voting for Barack Obama because he will bring this country back as a country for the people, not just a country for the oil executives.
