RUSHFORD, Minn. — Clara M. Bremmer, 98, of Rushford died Thursday July 31, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. She was the last surviving member of the Gilbert Eide family.

Clara was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Fremont Township of Winona County, to Gilbert and Julia (Dahl) Eide. She graduated from eigth grade at the Grover School. Later she attended Red Wing Seminary and the University of Minnesota. Clara graduated from teacher training in 1931. She taught school for seven years.

Clara married Truman Bremmer in 1938 at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. She was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church her entire life; during that time, she taught Sunday school and held various offices in the women’s organizations.

Clara’s concern for the elderly urged her to participate in planning and selecting furnishings for the Good Shepherd Home during it’s construction and completion in 1964. Clara donated funds for the Bremmer Suites Assisted Living, where she lived from 1997-99 before moving to Good Shepherd Home. Her volunteer assistance ceased when her vision and hearing failed. Clara was certified legally blind in 1989.

Clara is survived by three sisters-in-law, Cherrie Eide, Wanda Eide and Almira Olson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman, in January of 1987; also by her parents; five brothers, Gilman, Julian, Carl, Melford and Frederick; and three sisters, Olga Paulson, Evelyn Paulson and Emma Halvorson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Ronald Warnes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Please share a memory of Clara at her online guest book at www.hofffuneral.com. Hoff Funeral Home of Rushford is assisting the family with arrangements.
