Mary C. Zeise, 63, of Denton, Texas, and formerly of Winona, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her home in Denton.

WABASHA, Minn. — Edward E. Law, 83, of Wabasha and formerly of Kellogg, Minn., died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center, Wabasha.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, Lake City, Minn. Burial in Lakewood Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, Plainview, Minn. Visitation one hour prior to the service Monday at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.

Lola Mohr

WAUMANDEE, Wis. — Lola Mohr, 65, of Waumandee, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Arcadia. Burial in Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery, Arcadia.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia, and also from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Eleanore R. Loshek

Eleanore R. Loshek, 83, of Winona died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at her home.

Eleanore was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Winona, to Peter and Celia Malotke. She married Joseph R. Loshek, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1990.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Eleanore worked for Watkins, Grants and the Winona Knitting Mills. After her retirement, she worked for Bloedows Bakery.

Eleanore enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage and gardening. She loved to spend time with her family, and she was greatly loved by her family.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Loshek of Winona; daughter-in-law, Carol Loshek of Winona; grandchildren, Robert (Laura) Loshek of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Shane Loshek of Winona; and great-grandchildren, Corinna Loshek and Stephen Loshek.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and her son, Stephen Loshek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. today, July 26, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with preliminary services at 10 a.m. at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday, July 25, at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at the church today.

Pallbearers will be Robert Joseph Loshek, Shane Loshek, Steve Stockhausen, Adam Stockhausen, Doug Block and Zachary Block.

Dale Patraw

Sept. 26, 1940 — July 23, 2008

NELSON, Wis. — Dale L. Patraw, 67, of Nelson died Wednesday evening, July 23, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

He was born Sept. 26, 1940, at the family home in Buffalo County, Wis., the son of Glenn and Nellie (Gray) Patraw. He married Mary Ann Wolfe Oct. 17, 1959, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.

Dale worked for Norm and Bob Scheel for over 44 years at Norm’s Super Valu, now known as Scheel’s Super Valu in Wabasha. He retired in 2003 because of his health.

He was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church. He was an active and founding member of the Nelson Snowmobile Club. He also was a member of the Nelson Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, snowmobiling and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling. Dale was especially proud of his loving grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Patraw of Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Cheryl Patraw of Durand, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Kari and Cody Patraw; mother, Nellie Phillips of Durand; step-mother, Naomi Webert of Durand; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Kathy Patraw of Nelson, Jack and Becky Patraw of Pepin, Wis., Denny Patraw of Forest, Wis., Bob and Vicky Patraw of Pepin, Dave and Janet Patraw of Durand; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gayle Van Norman of Durand, Sharon and Doug Bauer of Eau Claire, Wis., Lou Ann and Dennis Meixner of Arkansaw, Wis.; nieces, nephews and cousins. His father and brother-in-law, Wes Van Norman, preceded him in death.

A funeral Mass will be offered today, July 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, with the Rev. Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will be in Nelson Cemetery, Nelson.

Casketbearers will be Kevin Patraw, Chris Patraw, Nathan Patraw, Todd Hetzer, Scott Hetzer and Jerry Lyngdal. Honorary bearers will be Loren Slagle, Steve Taverna and Gary Hetzer.

Friends may call at the church today one hour before the service.

Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center Foundation, 1200 5th Grant Blvd., Wabasha, MN 55981.

Merle T. Stoa

Dec. 6, 1917 — July 23, 2008

Merle Theolene Stoa, 90, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona. She was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Hawley, Minn., to Emil and Helen Thysell. She graduated from Hawley High School and then the University of Minnesota, with a degree in medical technology. She married Arnold E. Stoa in 1942 in Hawley. They started their married lives in Britton, S.D., and also lived in Aberdeen, S.D. and Edina, Minn., before moving to Winona in 1961.

Merle was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was also very active in the community. She was a volunteer and leader in many organizations, including PEO, Chatauqua Club, Deborah Circle and the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a “Pink Lady” for over 40 years.

Survivors include four children, Helen Del Vecchio of Winona, James (Barbara) of Janesville, Wis., Thomas (Christine) of Winona, and Carole (Hans) Senn of Stillwater, Minn. She has 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; and one brother, Vance Thysell.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona, with funeral services at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Franko officiating. Lunch will follow at the church, then interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Her grandchildren shall serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to the Winona Health Auxiliary or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Charles J. Harkness

July 17, 1917 — July 23, 2008

Charles J. Harkness, 91, of Winona died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona. Charles was born July 17, 1917, in Winona, to Clarence and Addie (Waldo) Harkness.

He was united in marriage to Eleanor Gaulke on June 7, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church, Stockton, Minn. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II, during which time he was overseas for 33 months. He saw action in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines and the Po Valley. Among his awards was a Purple Heart.

In his early years, he enjoyed fishing, wood working, traveling and the gatherings of his Army unit. Charles is a lifelong Winona area resident. He worked at H. Behrens Manufacturing for 44 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winona, and also American Legion Post 9 of Winona.

Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor; two sons, Richard and David Harkness, both of Winona; three nieces, Alice (Robert) McKeag, Oshkosh, Wis., Joyce (Harris) Olson, Byron, Minn., and LaVonne (Albert) LeBeau, Indialantic, Fla.; and his cat, "Whiskers." He is also survived by many great-nieces and -nephews,

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a sister; and a niece, Frances Loeken.

Funeral services to celebrate Charles’ life will be today, July 26, 2008, at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. James Nelson of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment will follow at Witoka Cemetery, Witoka, Minn., where members of American Legion Post 9 will conduct military burial honors.

Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home today, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Casketbearers are Roger Babcock, Dale, Wayne and Dean Prigge, Gary Schumacher and Earl Harkness.

Memorial gifts may be directed to St. Matthew’s Church or the donor’s choice.

Mary Jane Kramer

Mary Jane Kramer, 70, of Winona died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, in La Crosse, Wis., after a long illnesses.

Mary Jane was born March 26, 1938, in Winona, to Leonard and Ceilia (Kulas) Kulas. On April 24, 1960, she married John Kramer at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

She graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1957 and worked for Woolworths while going to school. Mary Jane sold Bee Line clothing during the 1980s and also worked for the Bell System for over 30 years, retiring from there in 1988.

Mary Jane was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the Telephone Pioneers.

She loved going to the casinos in Las Vegas, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Mary Jane always talked about going to Dodge on the Green Bay Passenger Train, and for 10 years, she would go with her husband, John, to the Dakota Hills Hunting Lodge and the Mule Deer Hunting Lodge on the Q Ranch in Casper, Wyoming.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, John of Winona; and her brother, Leonard Kulas of Winona.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Sunday, July 27, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with preliminary services at 11:30 a.m. at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer and Monsignor Roy E. Literski will concelebrate. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. today, July 26, at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Prayer Service will be held at 5:15 p.m. There will be no visitation at the church on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the following charities, which were favorite and important organizations to John and Mary Jane: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38105, or to St. Joseph’s Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100.
