Ken: We sure love your love of cows and all things agricultural, as well as cute puppies, kittens, bunnies and the like.
All of these animals have a place in our hearts and a place for them to be.
That place is not in the streets or on somebody else’s property.
A cow standing in the roadway is not cute or a nuisance. It is a safety hazard waiting for an accident to happen.
Ask your attorney friend how he’d address your court appearance if someone hit one of your “special” loveable bovines and got killed in the process.
That wouldn’t be called a nuisance or a misdemeanor; nobody would be picking on you because of your political record or affiliation.
You need to be treated like the rest of us mortals. The ones who you expect to follow the laws you help pass. The same laws that also apply to you.
We are not given the luxury of obeying laws we chose to at the moment without consequences.
Holding a public office doesn’t allow you to disregard a law if you don’t believe it applies to you or that the court is crowded.
Get somebody killed with one of your cows, and I’m sure the court calendar would be cleared.
Maybe your neighbors just want you to be a good neighbor. Asking you to keep your cows in doesn’t work, so now they call the sheriff.
You know it would not be comforting to me to have my kid killed hitting your “million dollar” cow or a $100 bologna special standing on a roadway. That heifer who kept getting out has a cure as well. It’s called “Bar-B-Q” or donate it to the food shelf. I’m sure people could put it to good use, and you could write it off as a donation.
I don’t think you’re being picked on for political reasons. Get over it.
