Legion baseball roundup: Verthein propels La Crescent over Eyota

Tim Verthein’s inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning scored two runs and highlighted La Crescent’s 10-0 first-round victory over Eyota in the District 1 tournament. Levon Mueller was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, driving home single runs in the first, second and fourth innings.

St. Charles 6, Lewiston 1
ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Brad Kohn pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts to pick up the win for St. Charles in the District 1 playoffs.

Ben Buehler took the loss for Lewiston despite striking out 13 in a six-inning complete game.

Matt Ellinghuysen went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Ben Colvin 1-for-3 with two RBIs for St. Charles.

Luke Kalis went 2-for-3 with a run for Lewiston.

Wabasha 7, Chatfield 5

WABASHA, Minn. — Kyler Stiner went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Matt Sandstrom struck out four in 4 2/3 innings in relief to lead Wabasha.

Mitch Obey was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Chatfield.
