Turned out the Norse needed every last run they put up in the big inning.
Travis Berg pitched five innings for the win and Matt Gilbertson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as Whitehall held off the Redmen 9-6 Tuesday in the Dairyland Conference.
Gilbertson’s two-run single was part of Whitehall’s seven-run first. The Norse used four hits and four walks in the inning.
Whitehall’s Chad Stellpflug went 3-for-4 with a double and Kevin Berg was 2-for-4 with a double.
G-E-T’s Keith Folkedahl had a home run and two RBIs and Kyle Canar had a triple and two RBI’s.
The Redmen closed to within 8-6, but trailed the entire game.
Alma 4, Blair-Taylor 3
BLAIR, Wis. — Alma’s Brady Ritscher scored the winning run on a Chris Glander two-out double in the top of the seventh.
Glander finished 4-for-4 with a double and teammate Sam Wieland had a double and two RBIs.
Buddy Hubbell had a season-high nine strikeouts for B-T.
M-M 2, Arcadia 1
ARCADIA, Wis. — Melrose-Mindoro took a 2-0 lead through two innings and Blake Shepherd took care of the rest, finishing with nine strikeouts in a complete-game, two-hitter.
Clint Woyczik and Zach Smith each went 2-for-3 for M-M.
