FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. — Independence/Gilmanton broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth against Cochrane-Fountain City.
Cody Kyser keyed the rally with an RBI single to score Marty Guza with the winning run. Adam Guza drove in Kyser for an insurance run later in the inning.
Kyser finished 2-for-3 and Adam Guza went 3-for-3 for I/G. Ryan Guza struck out four in two innings of relief to pick up the win.
C-FC’s Dylan Cieminski struck out eight in 42/3 innings, but also issued five walks and suffered the loss.
John Schmidtknecht, Karl Hoffmann and Tyler Keil had two hits apiece for C-FC.

MELROSE, Wis. — Blake Shepherd pitched a complete-game, five-hitter and went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Melrose-Mindoro.
Shepherd struck out nine and walked four over seven strong innings.
Lucas Howe went 2-for-3 and Nathan Nandory had a double for B-T.
